Brief CV
Hossein Rabiei is Assistant Professor of Political Geography in the Department of Political Geography at the Kharazmi University, and is especially interested in Persian Gulf regional studies. Most recently, he has co-authored Regional Studies of the Persian Gulf (Samt 2012) with Mohammad Reza Hafeznia of TMU; they also co-edited The Persian Gulf and the Strategic Role of the Strait of Hormuz (Samt 2011). His current research includes work on Persian Gulf - in particular political geography of states, strategic and political geography of regional and global powers, and the geopolitical and strategic relations. His main research agenda focus on the regional geopolitics of Middle East, in particular political geography of the states of this region and the region itself, regional conflict resolution and geopolitical relations. At the moment, Rabiei is translating International Frontiers and Boundaries (Prescott and Triggs; 2008).
He would be especially interested in supervising PhD and MA candidates working in the following areas:
  • Persian Gulf regional studies
  • Regional Geopolitics and the Relations of Powers in Geopolitical Regions
  • Territorial Conflict Resolution
